There is a true story about a family who lived in southern California. One day as they were out hiking in the canyons, they noticed wild mushrooms growing everywhere. the father decided to begin picking up the mushrooms and take them home. They invited friends over for a “mushroom party.” They sautéed the mushrooms, breaded them, and fried them. They made mushroom soup, mushroom omelets, and mushroom pasta’s. They even somehow erected a desert made from mushroom!
After dinner, as all of the guests were gathered at the table, having a grand ol time, the father went into the kitchen with the leftovers. He had an old lazy cat, so he decided to feed some of the leftovers to the cat. Of course the cat was loving the delicious snack.
Sometime later, the father went back into the kitchen and found the cat lying on the floor, foaming at the mouth and panting for breath. He immediately phoned the veterinarian, who advised them to go straight to the ER ASAP to have everyone’s stomach pumped. The Vet suspected that they had picked up poisonous toadstools instead of edible mushrooms.
After going to the hospital and having their stomach’s pumped, everyone came home after this crazy night. they made their way back into the kitchen, expecting to see their cat lying dead on the floor. Instead to their amazement the cat was in the corner with a brand new litter of kittens! Imagine that! Incredible! What they thought were death pains were in reality birth pains.
Have you ever felt like that before? I want you to know that sometimes, like the cat, it may look like your dream is foaming at the mouth and gasping for its next breath, but the truth is you are on the precipice of giving birth to your dream. So today, the word from the Lord is if you are feeling discouraged as though your dream is dying right in front of you, don’t give up. Don’t give up so soon on what God has placed inside of you. It just may be that you are experiencing birth pain (Ask any mother, they have a tendency to be pretty rough), not death pains. It is always too soon to quit. Man, when you’ve been through Hell, what five more feet? Keep going. Keep dreaming the dream God has placed inside your heart.
